WHO WE ARE

The Spanish Architects Society in China is a platform that aims to encourage an active link between Spanish and Chinese architecture and design.

It is conceived as a two-way bridge, being a meeting point between Professionals, Academia, Government and Institutions of both countries.

Nowadays, there are around 500 Spanish architects working in China or with a strong professional relationship with this country.

OUR MISSION

  • Create a platform to foster networking and knowledge sharing between Spanish and Chinese architects and designers.
  • Promote the exchange of Architecture students and young professionals between both countries.
  • Create a List of Spanish architecture companies currently working in projects in China.
  • Consulting for projects in China that requires Spanish design.
  • Give support to Spanish architects, helping them to understand the Chinese working environment to improve their performance in the Chinese market.
  • Provide information and advice to those architects who move to China in search of new career opportunities.
  • Improve the visibility of the creative capacity of Spanish professionals, in disciplines directly related to architecture: sustainability, building materials, construction solutions, furniture and product design, real estate, etc.

We aim at being globally influential as a community connecting professional architects and designers.

IRENE TRUJILLO

President

Master of Architecture graduated from the Technical University of Madrid, Registered Architect in Spain and Master´s candidate of Science in Green building at San Francisco Institute of Architecture, Berkeley.

She worked in Spain and Australia in large scale projects. Since 2011 she is the Head of Architecture at INGENOR Shanghai office.

She is also a visiting professor at Jiaotong and Tongji University, and an active speaker in lectures and conferences regarding Sustainable architecture in China.

ELENA PÉREZ GARRIGUES

Vice-President

Master Architect by ETSAM, Polytechnic University of Madrid and Registered Architect in Spain. Founder and Design Director of NINOM, an internationally awarded multidisciplinary architectural design practice founded in Madrid and based in Shanghai.Her work has been recognized by the Saloni Architecture Award and the Ballesta Performance Festival Award, and has been published on international magazines .

Elena is currently Lecturer at the Hong Kong University, leading a Studio at the Faculty of Architecture at the Shanghai Study Centre.

JAVIER

JAVIER POVEDA

Secretary

RIBA Member, he  is currently  Principal at SSH. His  experience encompasses a wide spectrum of large scale projects across Europe, Middle East and China.

Business oriented, with a global approach towards architectural practice. He is Master of Architecture,  has completed a Doctorate Program in Strategic Management of Global Architecture Firms,  and  is Global Executive MBA.

He has been spoken in many conferences and written several papers about global practices and International Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

BENITO JIMÉNEZ

Practice Director

Senior Architect, Masters Degree from Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), July 1990.

Owner & Founding Partner of Beades arquitectos sap & bYi associates architects Spain.

Developed projects in Europe, America, Africa and Asia.

CEO of bYi Group (Shanghai Branch) for works in China since 2010.

Visiting Professor at Zhengzhou University and Jilin Jianzhu University, teaching about European and Chinese architecture.

Published works in national and international magazines, books and forums.

XIXI YAOYUAN

Executive Director

Architect and urban planner formed in Architecture College in Madrid and at  Tsinghua University.

Actively working in the field of construction in China with the aim of improving the quality of architecture and urbanism of his native country that, due to the great economic boom, is suffering losses in terms of the quality of projects.

ADRIAN

ADRIÁN GARCÍA

Design Director

Master Architect. Adrian is passionate about architecture, design and wine from Rioja, where he comes from. He has studied and worked around Spain, India, United States and China.

MARTA

MARTA GÓMEZ

Events Director

Master Architect graduated from San Pablo CEU University in Madrid and Registered Architect in Spain.

Nowadays she is working as a key member of the design department in ZF Architectural Design Company in Shanghai.

She also works as a Design tutor in Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University in Suzhou.

LUIS TORRES BEGINES

Marketing&Communication

Master Architect graduated from the Architecture Technical University of Seville, student abroad from Technical University of Graz and Registered Architect in Spain.

With more than 10 years of experience in design, urban planning, landscape and rehabilitation, since 2012 he is practicing the architecture in Shanghai at Chinese and American companies and also as a freelance graphic designer.

LAURA GONZALEZ

Advisory board

Master Architect graduated from the Technical University of Seville. Student abroad from Technical Faculty of Architecture of Florence and Registered Architect in Spain.

Currently a Shanghai based Junior Architect within an international team, she has two years oversea proffessional experience between Spain and China.

Passionate about oversea traveling and languages study, she actively combines the architectural practice with supplementary activites related to creativity, culture and design.
